Armen Shahinian practices in the areas of commercial litigation, construction litigation, fidelity and surety law and bankruptcy. He joined Wolff & Samson in 1977 and today leads the firm’s nationally recognized Fidelity and Surety Group, one of the largest in the country.

Armen served as a member and chairman of the New Jersey Supreme Court District Ethics Committee for West Essex County from 1989 to 1993. He is a member of the New Jersey State Bar Association’s Fidelity and Surety Law Committee and served as its chair in 1992. He is also a member of the American Bar Association’s Litigation, Public Contract Law and Tort Trial, and Insurance Practice Sections. At the ABA, he also served as a member of the editorial board of the Tort Trial and Insurance Practice Section’s quarterly publication The Brief, served as a member of its Continuing Legal Education Board and chaired the Fidelity and Surety Law Committee from 2000 to 2001, and currently serves as co-chair of the Past-Chairs Advisory Council.

Armen is a member of the Board of Directors of the Surety & Fidelity Claims Institute and editor-in-chief of its newsletter. He also is a trustee of the Legal Services Foundation of Essex County. In the mid-1990s, Armen helped found the Fidelity Law Association and currently serves as advisor emeritus.

Armen is listed in The Best Lawyers in America in the areas of Commercial Litigation, Banking & Finance Litigation, Bankruptcy Litigation, Construction Litigation and Real Estate Litigation, as well as in New Jersey Super Lawyers. He has an AV® rating from Martindale-Hubbell.

Armen is a graduate of New York University Law School where he served as associate editor of the Annual Survey of American Law.
