Bruce Ettman, an attorney with Wolff & Samson’s Litigation Group, represents private and public sector clients. Bruce’s practice focuses on general commercial cases, discrimination and harassment claims, and asbestos defense litigation. He also handles products liability defense, restrictive covenant litigation, corporate and partnership disputes, environmental litigation, police liability claims and insurance coverage disputes.

His clients include public and private entities in the oil distribution, technology, manufacturing, security, payroll services, employee benefits, advertising and insurance industries. Bruce represents clients in state and federal courts, as well as in proceedings conducted by New Jersey and New York administrative agencies.

Bruce’s many accomplishments over the course of his 20-year career include:

  • Developing and litigating issues of first impression regarding multi-employer pension plan withdrawal liability under ERISA, including constitutional issues of statutory construction; Local 478 Trucking and Allied Industries Pension Fund v. Jayne, et al., 778 F.Supp. 1289 (D.N.J. 1991)
  • Handling one of the first cases applying registration requirements of computer consulting companies as employment agencies under New Jersey law; Data Informatics, Inc. v. AmeriSource Partners, et al., 338 N.J.Super. 61 (App. Div. 2001)
  • Obtaining an Appellate Division reversal and remand of a Tax Court’s decision regarding the taxation of publicly owned, unused land that has no possible private or commercial use; City of Newark v. New Jersey Turnpike Authority, N.J. Tax Court, Docket No. A-0336-06T1 (settled after remand)

Before becoming a lawyer, Bruce was a teacher. Today, he continues to be active in educational issues and serves on his local Board of Education. He also volunteers for various community and civic groups and is active in efforts that benefit general education and special needs students and their families.
