Daniel Schwartz practices in the areas of corporate and securities, mergers and acquisitions, banking and finance, health care and hospitals, internal investigations and monitoring, and energy and resource recovery law.

Dan’s corporate law experience includes counseling clients that range from small, closely held businesses to Fortune 500 companies. He works with his clients’ corporate management teams on both day-to-day business matters and highly specialized transactions. His counsel on mergers, acquisitions and project finance transactions helped close deals valued in the hundreds of millions of dollars. In addition, he chartered several New Jersey banking institutions and regularly represents both lenders and borrowers in complex financial transactions.

In the health law field, Dan provides regulatory, personal and business planning services to medical professionals and their practices. The range of matters he handles includes mergers, acquisitions and sales of practices, separations of practices, structuring and financing special purpose entities, and regulatory issues.

Dan’s recent transactions include:

• Leading a team of attorneys in the sale of the stock of a distributor of generic pharmaceutical products to a private equity group, the financing of which involved both senior and mezzanine lenders
• Participating in the acquisition by a private real estate investment team of a controlling interest of the Meadowlands Xanadu™ project in northern New Jersey
• Serving as counsel to the federal monitor in connection with a deferred prosecution agreement entered into between the U.S. Attorney for New Jersey and a company involved in the hip and knee orthopedics industry alleged to have violated certain federal health care laws

Dan is listed in The Best Lawyers in America in the areas of Corporate Law and Mergers and Acquisitions and in New Jersey Super Lawyers. He has an AV® rating from Martindale-Hubbell, the highest ranking of both ethical standards and legal ability that Martindale awards.

Dan graduated summa cum laude from the University of Pennsylvania, where he was elected to Phi Beta Kappa. He received his J.D. from Columbia University School of Law. While at Columbia, Dan was a Harlan Fiske Stone Scholar and served as the writing and research editor for the Columbia Journal of Law and Social Problems. He earned an LL.M. in Taxation from New York University.
