Howard J. Schwartz is a veteran trial lawyer in Wolff & Samson’s Intellectual Property Group. He litigates business disputes in federal and state courts and has extensive experience in the areas of copyright, trademark and patent law.

Howard counts among his clients authors, movie producers and other creative talent. His experience includes representing the authors of “Grease,” the producer of “Gangs of New York,” “Last Tango in Paris” and “The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly,” the author of “The First Wives Club,” Penguin Group (USA), New York City Ballet and American Guild of Musical Artists. He has tried numerous cases involving intellectual property, including ownership of the various rights in and to scientific advances and medical devices involving hundreds of millions of dollars.

Active in professional and civic organizations, Howard is a master and past executive committee member of the John J. Gibbons Intellectual Property Inn of Court and a former trustee of the New Jersey Shakespeare Festival. He currently serves as general counsel to the New Jersey Volunteer Lawyers for the Arts.

Howard is listed in the 2011 edition of Chambers USA: America's Leading Lawyers for Business in the area of Intellectual Property.  Martindale-Hubbell assigned Howard an AV® rating and he has been selected for inclusion in New Jersey Super Lawyers since 2005.
