Employers Breakfast Briefing: "Privacy in the Workplace: Monitoring Employee Communications"April 7, 2010 Employers throughout New Jersey and around the country have relied upon email communication and Internet usage policies to preserve the employer’s right to monitor and inspect employee email communications on company-owned computers. Recent legal challenges to such policies highlight the importance of clearly written polices, training with regard to the policy, routine email monitoring and enforcement of the policy. This seminar will address the present legal parameters of employee monitoring in the workplace and the employee’s right to privacy. In addition, our guest speaker, George Wade, a computer forensics expert, will discuss the proactive mechanisms employers may implement to protect against employee theft and to monitor electronic communications.
