Wolff & Samson is proud to announce that member of the firm Karen L. Gilman has been recognized by NJBIZ as one of “New Jersey’s Best 50 Women in Business” for 2010. Each year, NJBIZ selects "New Jersey's most dynamic and distinguished women in business,” based on their professional accomplishments, community involvement and advocacy for women. Gilman and her fellow 2010 honorees will be saluted on April 7, 2010, at an awards ceremony and reception at The Palace at Somerset Park, in Somerset, NJ.
Gilman is a member of Wolff & Samson’s Bankruptcy and Creditors’ Rights Group. She litigates in the federal bankruptcy courts throughout the country, as well as in the federal and state courts of New Jersey, representing financial institutions in complex commercial transactions. She represents both secured and unsecured creditors, creditors committees and/or their members, and asset purchasers. She also counsels institutional and mezzanine lenders, landlords, national and regional wholesale distributors and retail suppliers regarding their rights in connection with financial restructurings and as creditors under the Bankruptcy Code.
“Karen’s accomplishments and commitment to her clients have been exemplary and justify her selection as one of this year’s ‘Best 50 Women in Business’,” noted David Samson, a founding partner of Wolff & Samson and former Attorney General for the State of New Jersey.
Gilman joined Wolff & Samson in 1991 as the first lateral female partner at the firm. She was also the first female member of the firm’s Management Committee, chaired its Hiring Committee for three years and has been on the firm’s Budget Committee for the past three years.
