Samson Receives Lifetime Achievement Award

Wolff & Samson PC is proud to announce that firm founder and senior member, David Samson, received the Essex County Bar Association’s “2011 Lifetime Achievement Award.” Samson was presented the award at the Bar Association’s Annual Dinner on October 27, 2011.
The Achievement Awards were established to recognize those individuals or entities who have demonstrated a commitment to promoting integrity, professionalism, zealous advocacy and the fair administration of justice in the Essex County legal community and the legal profession generally.
Samson, who has been in private practice for more than 40 years, has extensive experience in complex business and corporate litigation, administrative proceedings, and governmental and regulatory affairs. His experience also includes acting as a court-appointed labor union trustee, a civil litigation discovery master and as a federal monitor pursuant to a United States Department of Justice deferred prosecution agreement.
Samson has also held several public positions. Earlier this year, he was elected Chairman of The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey. In this role, Samson leads the Port Authority as it plans, builds, operates and maintains the infrastructure critical to the trade and transportation network of the New York/New Jersey region. During 2002-2003, Samson served as Attorney General for the State of New Jersey, the chief law enforcement officer for New Jersey.
Among his other public positions, Samson was appointed by Governor James Florio as a member of the Governor’s Commission on Health Care Costs and by Governor Thomas Kean as the Chairman of the Governor’s Task Force on the Laws Governing the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey. He also served from 1982-1990 as General Counsel to the New Jersey Turnpike Authority. In addition, he was appointed by the Supreme Court of New Jersey to serve on its Ethics Committee and has been a member of the New Jersey Supreme Court Committee on Reporting of Court Decisions. He was the Legal Consultant to the Advisory Committee to the Attorney General on Governmental Immunity, and served on the New Jersey Bar Association Committee on Judicial and Prosecutorial Appointments.
In 2009, Samson was appointed and served as the Chairman of the Transition Committee for Governor-Elect Chris Christie.
